Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 50-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness. We offer personalized rehabilitation services for stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, spinal cord injury, trauma, and orthopedic injury. Job Summary
The Educator and Infection Preventionist is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that support professional development and regulatory compliance. This role also oversees infection prevention strategies, surveillance, and policy development to ensure a safe hospital environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct orientation, in-service training, and continuing education programs
- Ensure educational content meets accreditation, regulatory, and organizational standards
- Collaborate with leadership and departments to identify learning needs and schedule required training
- Lead hospital-wide infection prevention initiatives and education
- Monitor and report infection trends and outbreaks; implement improvement plans as needed
- Stay current on infection control guidelines and ensure compliance across departments
- Serve as a resource on infection control and prevention best practices
- Participate in safety committees and prepare reports for leadership and accreditation bodies
- Support quality improvement and risk management initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's in Nursing required; Master's preferred
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience; experience in staff education and infection prevention strongly preferred
- License: Active RN license in the state of Texas required
- Certifications: BLS required; Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or obtained within 1 year
