Position Summary:

Essential Functions

Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

Prepares equipment and supplies.

Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

Conducts annual performance evaluations on all personnel according to the established time frame.

Maintains the MRI employee schedule and coordinates with the other modality supervisors/senior technologists to ensure that there are no conflicts with staffing.

Initiates counseling and disciplinary action in a timely and supportive manner.

Manages the workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments.

Recommends and manages equipment repair, supply procurement, and equipment modification.

Maintains adequate inventory of all required supplies.

Works with radiologists to set standards of quality in techniques, procedures and patient care.

Educator on MRI safety and educate staff as needed.

Screens all patients for any indwelling metal or devices, implants in the patient's body.

Nonessential Functions

Demonstrates knowledge of institutional regulations regarding patient care, fire and safety, infection control, disaster plans and emergency codes and procedures according to departmental procedure.

Participates in the clinical activities of the department.

Assists in quality assurance programs as requested to enhance job knowledge and understanding.

Contributes to the effective management of the department.

Participates actively in departmental and hospital councils, committees and task forces.

Will perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education

Associate's Degree required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

BLS required

Licenses: ARTT required, additional certification in MRI required.

Computer: Basic computer skills

Minimum Work Experience

3-5 years experience as a MRI tech required.

2-4 years leadership experience highly preferred
