Position Summary:

The Medical Surgical Unit Paid Intern plays a key role in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked patient care environment while assisting with transportation tasks. This position provides an opportunity to develop valuable employability skills, including teamwork, organization, time management, and problem-solving in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent

  • Must be 18 years old

  • Must have CPR certification

Essential Job Functions:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of established standards for cleaning patient rooms between visits to include all equipment, bed, floor, walls, or anything else used on the prior patient visit. Position the room for the next patient visit with fresh linen on stretcher.

  • Transport specimens and blood as applicable.

  • Respond to calls from rooms for extra supplies and equipment.

  • Keep hallways clear and passable.

  • Stocking supplies: Keeps supplies stocked in Patient Rooms, Supply Carts, and blanket and fluid warmers. Transport Responsibilities: Transport supplies, specimens, and patients as delegated.

  • Provide necessary articles for transport, including oxygen tanks, monitors, patient charts, documents and supplies.

  • Assist in transporting of patients as needed.

  • Assist with monthly department audits
