Position Summary:

Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the registered pharmacist.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred

  • Proof of current CPhT standing and Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Registration Required

  • Successful completion of the National Certification Examination by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technician (ICPT) required 6 months from date of hire/transfer

  • Institutional pharmacy or medical experience Preferred

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.

  • Fills medication carts on a daily basis.

  • Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department.

  • Repackages bulk medications.

  • Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribe physician's orders

  • Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs

  • Ability to work under stressful situations.

  • Knowledge of universal precaution and isolation standards

  • Basic computer skills
