Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Polysomnography Technician for our Sleep Center. This job is permanent, PRN.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepares for the arrival of the patient by setting up and preparing the equipment for the ordered test.
  • Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
  • Performs testing and any additional testing required for sleep disorder that is noted.
  • Scores, interprets, and reports results of sleep studies. Educates patients about test results, sleep disorders, community support groups, and available resources.
  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs, and maintains equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs and replacements.
  • Maintains proper supplies to care for patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education
High School diploma or equivalent OR equivalent work experience:

Graduate from a polysomnographic educational program or Respiratory Care Educational Program:
â–¡ Preferred X Required
Required Licenses
[Tennessee, United States] Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
The below licensure will be required at the time of hire:
X Temporary licensure / permit as a polysomnographic technician from the State of Tennessee.

A non-licensed Polysomnographic Technician with a temporary permit will practice under the general supervision of a licensed registered Polysomnographic Technician. An employee working under a temporary licensure / permit will have 12 months from the date of graduation from an accredited educational program to provide proof that they have passed the national certifying exam given by the BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists) or the permit will be withdrawn.

The below licensure will be required within 12 months of graduation from an accredited educational program:
X Current RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist), RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist), or CRTT (Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician) AND current license in State of Tennessee.
