Position Summary:

Provides for an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. Recreational therapy employs leisure activities to help patients with disabilities or illnesses. Through the use of games, sports, crafts and more, recreational therapy serves to maintain the patient's physical and emotional well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, one (1) of which was full time in a rehabilitation activities program in a healthcare setting, preferred.
  • May have additional qualifications that would enhance job performance, such as certification or licensing as CNA, LPN/LCN, RN, OT, COTA, or degrees in recreational, social or occupational work .
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days after hire date.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
