Position Summary:
The Surgical Supply & Support Intern plays a vital role in assisting surgical staff with essential tasks to ensure smooth operations in the surgical department. This position supports storekeepers, operating room technicians, and nurses in managing supplies, maintaining inventory, and optimizing workflow efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to meet minimum hospital hiring standards
Essential Job Functions:
Helps the storekeepers pick supplies, receive supplies, and put away supplies.
Assist with room turnover between surgical cases
Helps OR Techs pick surgical cases.
Helps Storekeeper and Nurses complete expiration date checks.
Assists with the physical inventory of patient care supply areas and stores. Assists with the reconciliation of WVMC physical inventory in compliance with policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Surgery Charge Nurse and Supervisor
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use a box cutter, hand truck, and manual pallet jack.
Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment.
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, handles hazardous material requiring knowledge of Hospital Safety Protocol.
Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook preferred.
Demonstrate sound judgement, patience, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
