Lead Security Officer-Armed

Provides armed security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors. Acts in a lead capacity as directed by the Assistant Director and/or Director

Reports to: Assistant Director-Facilities/Security

Performs proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
 
Investigates and manages all security incidents and hazards on the premises.
 
Assist in controlling combative individuals in accordance within established policies and procedures.
 
While following establishes chain of command instructions, coordinates with local law enforcement as needed to handle situations.
 
Maintains knowledge of and follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. Facilitates planned drills and simulations.
 
Provides information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote their safety on the premises
 
Responds to required Emergency Codes to provide aid at appropriate level of support
 
 
Completes and submits reports on all incidents and requests with recording actions taken.
 
Provides scheduling assistant, as requested
 
Acts in lead capacity in absence of the Assistant Director

Minimum Education
□ High school diploma or equivalent - Required
 
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Have an understanding of use of force and be able to articulate when use of force would be appropriate. Experience with Firearms, Baton, Handcuff and Taser.
 
Required Skills
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) / Heartsaver from American Heart Association approved training center required within 90 days of employment.
Must complete Handle with Care and Defensive Tactics courses within 90 days of employment
 
Required Skills
Licenses:
Must posses a current Tennessee Driver’s License or State of residence and clean MVR. Must posses a current Tennessee Armed Security Officer License or meet all requirements of attaining license and obtain within 30 days of employment. If not licensed upon hire, will only work in capacity of Unarmed Security Guard while obtaining license
 
Minimum Work Experience
One-year experience in a job related to security, law enforcement or military police preferred.
