Job Summary:

ADON is accountable for assisting the DON in implementing and directing all nursing services.  This position interfaces closely with the medical staff and administration to achieve the hospital goals and objectives.  The Assistant Director of Nursing collaborates with the DON in planning, organizing and directing the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care consistent with the facilities goals and objectives.  Duties include staffing, training and development, revision of nursing policies and procedures, standards of performance, and communication regarding nursing issues to medical staff, department director's and administration.  Participates in departmental and team meetings to discuss patient care and develop treatment plans.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors' degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing is required, MSN or equivalent preferred, from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing or is qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.  Experience in patient assesments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.  Two year's leadership preferred.

License:  Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.  Maybe required to work fleible hours and overtime.
