Position Summary

The pharmacy internship at Community Medical Center (CMC) will prepare the student for work in a hospital pharmacy. Upon completion of internship, the student will have learned both the distributional and clinical duties of a hospital pharmacist. The program if the interns training will depend upon his/her initiative and time allowances of the training schedule. Generally, the first year will stress the distribution methos used at CMC. The second year will give the intern expanded experience in distribution and in the IV area and allow the student to utilize his/her formal education in patient monitoring, drug therapy, patient consultation, and administrative task. 

How you'll contribute

  • Learns how to interpret and evaluate all physician medication, IV admixture and TPN orders
  • Learns the appropriate process used in dispensing controlled substances as required by local, state, and federal laws and the standards as it pertains to the standards of good pharmacy practice
  • Learns how to appropriately compound and dispense medications from the pharmacy
  • Gains experience in clinical activities performed by the department under the supervision of the clinical manager
  • Becomes familiar with automated systems used in the pharmacy

  • Current enrollment in an accredited school of pharmacy in good academic standing. 
  • Licensed pharmacy Intern in the State of Montana
