Position Summary: 

The Medical Laboratory Technician applies principles, theories and techniques according to established laboratory practices and procedures to report accurate test results in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.  All testing is to be performed in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and as may be directed by the administrator and medical staff to ensure that the highest degree of quality patient care can be always maintained.  Perform specimen collection for patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics)..

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, MLS or chemical, physical, or biological science and graduate of an NAACLS approved laboratory training program as applicable to the position. May also qualify under route 2, 3 or 4 of the ASCP Board of Certification.  Must be registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology or eligible to sit for the MLS certification exam. Successful completion of certification exam within 12 months of employment. Those who were certified after January 1, 2004, must renew their certification every three years by participating and successfully completing the Certification Maintenance program.
