Position Summary:
Works under the direction of and in coordination with the Radiation Oncologist. Responsible for treatment plans, personnel dosimetry, machine calibrations and any other area that concerns the application of medical physics. Reviews/approves radiation treatment plans for radiation oncology patients and verifies the safe deliverability on the treatment machine. Specialist in calculating and measuring radiation doses based on equipment parameters and patient dimensions. Must have the competence and skills to work with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. I specialize in the application of physics in Radiation Oncology. Is a technical supervisor of the Radiation Oncology Department. Possess competent clinical and interactive skills with adult and geriatric patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS Degree in Medical Physics or the Physical Sciences, Master of Science in Medical Physics or related field.
Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology.
Must pass certification within 24 months of hire.
Must be organized to plan, direct and conduct all functions related to physics within the facility.
Possess knowledge and demonstrate competency in treating, planning treatment and execution of treatment to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Must participate in supporting programs to ensure effective and safe use of radiation and radionuclides in patients by the physician.
Fluency in PC application and possess the understanding of 3D reconstruction/viewing. Possess developed skills in mathematics (algebra/geometry) along with basic radiation physics aspects.
