This is a full time (0.8 - 1.0 Status), day shift Certified Surgical Tech position in the Surgery Department.

The Surgical Technologist is an allied health professional competent of surgical procedures and an integral part of the surgical care team. The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision and delegation of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist is an expert in theory and application of aseptic and sterile technique, knowledgeable of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and surgeon preferences to properly prepare the sterile field, supplies, instrumentation, and equipment. During the surgery, the Surgical Technologist provides appropriate instrumentation and assisting through a combination of knowledge, participation, anticipation, and critical thinking. The Surgical Technologist works alongside and assists the circulating nurse as well as other members of the surgical team.

Minimum Required:

  • Associates degree of applied science in Surgical Technology from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English with excellent telephone and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment required.  
  • Coursework in medical terminology, human anatomy, microbiology, infection control, decontamination, disinfection, instrument assembly and packaging, higher-level sterilization, biological testing, and inventory management and distribution desired.
  • Preferred 1 (one) year surgical technologist acute care experience.

Required Certification(s):

  • Association of degree of applied science in Surgical Technology from an accredited facility.
  • National Certification as a Surgical
  • American Heart Association healthcare provider

On Call / Weekend: Per department needs.
