GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – The staff technologist is responsible for performing radiographic exams, including portables, surgery, and trauma. 

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform high quality radiographic procedures
  • Operating all radiographic equipment as trained, in a safe manner, and demonstrating competency and care of such equipment
  • Follow radiation protection standards for patients, self and others
  • Performing CT Procedures and Radiographic Procedures
  • Assists with front office/clerical duties when necessary
  • Participates in identification of quality and safety concerns
  • Assists with duties associated with the daily operations of Imaging Services

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Using Radiology Information System (MEDITECH) and PACS
  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and caring manner
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has the ability to work independently, complete tasks, and flexibility to adjust to high volume workloads.
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions.
  • Interacts positively with patients, physicians and staff.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional conduct

EDUCATION

Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

EXPERIENCE 

ARRT registered or registry eligible with experience in general radiography. Experience in CT preferred.  Possess good written and verbal communication skills. Has the ability to work independently, complete tasks, and flexibility to adjust to high volume workloads. Ability to perform basic computer functions. Interacts positively with patients, physicians, and staff. Demonstrates ethical and professional conduct.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

ARRT registered or registry eligible with a current Iowa Permit to Practice.

BCLS required.
