Assists a Physical Therapist with a patient's rehabilitative activities to help reduce pain and improve mobility.
Reports to: Director Physical Rehabilation
Minimum Education
Associate’s degree physical therapy assistant
Current License Physical Therapy Assistant by the State of Tennessee
Associate’s degree physical therapy assistant

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Supports therapist in assessing the condition of patients, planning treatment programs, preparing treatment schedules and keeping records on the progress of treatment.
Assists with therapeutic procedures or administering procedures under a therapist's supervision.
Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing.
Establishes an environment of care and compassion order to provide emotional, psychological and physical support to patients and families.
Promotes patient independence by performing therapy techniques and teachings for patient and family to gain physical independence through mobility.
Assures quality patient care by adhering to established best practices and standards of care, measuring functional outcomes, making changes to the patients plan of care as needed, following our hospital philosophies, standards of practice and standards of care set forth by the Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continued education, review of professional publications and participation in inter-disciplinary problem techniques such as briefs, debriefs, patient safety huddle and executive patient safety rounding
