University of Louisville Health Frazier Rehab Hospital-Brownsboro is a state-of-the-art, 40-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness. Our rehabilitation programs provide ongoing care and specialized treatment to patients throughout their recovery journey. We offer customized, individualized rehabilitation tailored to the specific needs of those recovering from a stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury. Summary: 

This position oversees the revenue cycle (gross charges, patient insurance, collections, and adjustments), accounts payable, monitoring of operational efficiencies, and month end close duties and may also own the payroll processing for the hospital.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

Responsibilities:

· Ability to perform accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations, journal entries (e.g., accrued, recurring), payroll weekly reports, general ledger, financial analysis, account reconciliations, month end close.

· Maximize the collection of medical services payments and reimbursements from patients, insurance carriers, and other sources of payment. Proactively identify, communicate, and establish processes to mitigate any risks to the revenue cycle process.

· Utilize web-based tools and other available resources to facilitate providing insurance companies with required information.

· Utilize multiple information systems to accurately select the correct patient account in order to appropriately review and verify patient billable charges.

· Participate in and assist with audits to capture lost charges and determine the accuracy of billing as necessary.

· May be the primary payroll processor for the hospital, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and timely.

· Various projects and tasks as requested.

Professional Requirements:

· Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations.

· Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.

· Reports to work on time and as scheduled.

· Wears identification while on duty.

· Attends departmental in-services and completes annual competencies/education requirements.

· Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.

· Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

· Complies with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.

· Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

· Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital.

Experience/Skills:

· Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business preferred or equivalent experience.

· Accounts Receivable and general accounting experience.

· Must be able to deal professionally with patients, physicians, visitors, and the general public.

· Must possess a high degree of analytical ability and strategic thinking.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

· Good general health and stress coping ability. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Normal walking, standing, sitting, bending, carrying of light items such as books and papers and computer related work. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members) as needed for leadership, assessment, intervention, and professional development.

A key element for a successful Exposure Control Plan is to identify situations that place all employees at risk for exposure. To facilitate this, the Hospital maintains a list of job classifications and contact status for all employees in which employees have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
