How you'll contribute
The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the environmental services (EVS) operations of the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This role includes staff management, regulatory compliance, and support for facility improvement efforts.
Essential Functions:
- Clean patient rooms, restrooms, lounges, offices, corridors, walls, and windows per schedule.
- Perform floor care including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping; restock restrooms and clean fixtures.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery such as vacuums, mini extractors, and hand trucks.
- Inspect and evaluate the hospital's physical condition and recommend repairs, painting, and space utilization changes.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline EVS personnel according to policy.
- Schedule EVS staff to ensure adequate coverage throughout the hospital.
- Develop and implement orientation and ongoing training programs for staff.
- Participate in hospital Safety Committees.
- Ensure compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations and cleanliness standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
- Must be able to supervise and train staff while maintaining facility sanitation and safety standards.
- Strong communication and leadership skills required.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma required; two years of college-level education preferred.
Experience:
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
Skills:
- Technical - Computer experience required; EMR/electronic documentation familiarity desirable.
- Communication - Ability to speak and write concisely; knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
- Interpersonal - Works effectively with all levels of medical personnel, patients, and families; strong customer service; reliability and attention to detail.
