Lab Assistant
Schedule: this is a PRN (as needed) position that does not have a set schedule or number of hours/week it will work. Work hours can include evening and night shifts and rotating weekends and holidays.

How you'll contribute
A Lab Assistant who excels in this role performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory. They may also perform the following functions:
Obtains venous and capillary blood specimens.
Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
Maintains adequate stock of supplies.
Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing.
Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
Performs collection of other physiologic samples as required such as bleeding times, sweat chlorides, and therapeutic phlebotomies.
Prepares and transports specimens to laboratory for analysis.Uses the pneumatic tube system.
Performs and results waived testing procedures after training and successful competency evaluation.
Identifies problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and notifies MLT, MT, supervisor or director immediately.
Follows laboratory's established policies and procedures.
Documents any corrective action taken when situation deviates from established characteristics on the remedial/corrective action logs. Notifies MT, supervisor of immediate concerns.

What we're looking for
High school diploma preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.
