We are a Primary Care office, Family Practice in Meyersdale PA. This particular position will be primarily for our Telephone Triage. Answering incoming calls from patients regarding test results, problems, giving medical advice, and will also be trained to room for a provider, to give injections, perform EKGs, and perform other nursing duties.
How you'll contribute
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:
Provides direct patient care in a personalized, efficient manner with respect for spiritual and cultural differences.
Provides patient care to infants through geriatric patients under the supervision of Physician, CRNP, and Physician Assistant.
Escorts patients to exam rooms, prepares patient for exam.
Obtains vital signs prior to the patient being seen by the physician.
Performs EKGs as directed by the physician, CRNP, or Physician Assistant.
Assists Physician, CRNP, and Physician Assistant with exam and procedures as requested.
Assists in patient care, pre and post procedure clinic visits.
Determines nursing care needs of the patient.
Answers all incoming phone calls in a courteous manner, taking accurate messages and routing them accordingly and in a timely fashion. Triaging patient telephone inquiries.
Develops implements and updates nursing care plans under the direction of the physician, CRNP, or physician assistant.
Handles patient telephone inquiries. Telephones prescription order to pharmacy, as needed.
Performs specials tests i.e. audiometry, eye tests, and EKG's.
Performs on-site laboratory testing.
Transcribes lab and other medical data to charts and updates flow sheets.
Attends assigned and/or scheduled in-service education meeting and staff meetings.
Promotes an environment that is conducive to employee and patient safety.
Must be flexible with workload, schedule and location to meet department volume and demands.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
Coordinates with Home Health and other outside agencies to meet patient needs.
Coordinates and orients new nursing personnel with regards to office set-up, requirements, associated activities and procedures.
Coordinates special activities with the hospital, i.e. direct admissions from the office or any other unique requirements.
Requests medical records from other facilities as needed.
Monthly inventory of exam rooms for expiring supplies.
Responsible for nursing competencies.
Obtains prior authorizations for medicines as needed.
Faxes out reports, receives incoming faxes and distributes accordingly.
Obtains BLS certification through American Heart Association.
All other responsibilities as assigned in accordance with qualifications.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current state LPN license and be a graduate of a practical nurse program. Additional requirements include:
Two or Three years in a physician office setting preferred
