Position Summary:

Performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory.

Reports to: Supervisor, Lab

FLSA:  Non-exempt   

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides diabetes education, consultation and evaluation of patient and program outcomes.

 

Reports to: Director

FLSA:  Non-exempt

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Independently writes, communicates, and implements teaching interventions for patients, families, significant others.

Delivers educational material using teaching principals and a variety of formats for new pediatric inpatients and outpatients in group and individual sessions.

Delivers educational material appropriate for identified needs utilizing knowledge of growth and development for outpatients in group and individual sessions.

Assists to maintain diabetes supplies.

Provides back up and assists other staff as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Associate’s degree in Nursing
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics
*Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Skills
Certifications/ Licenses:
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
Registered Dietitian Certification OR Registered Nurse (RN) in State of Michigan
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) (within 2 years of hire)
