POSITION SUMMARY: The Emergency Department Supervisor supervises daily staff activities for an assigned area or function. This position oversees the activities of the clinical unit and assigned staff during scheduled shifts, provides patient care, enhances department workflow and provides leadership at the point of care. Assists with data collection and performance improvement activities and programs. Collaborates with the director and is the support for the unit when the director is unavailable. Assists with call coverage for the unit. Supervises daily staff activities for an assigned area or function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with
performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.
Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
Lead the work of others who perform essentially the same work. May set priorities, schedule and review work, but have no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance and/or make pay decisions.
Qualifications & Requirements- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
- One year of RN experience (preferred, but not required)
