ADON is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing (DON) in implementing and directing all nursing services. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, administration, nursing staff, and other departments to achieve the hospitals goals and objectives. The ADON collaborates with the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care consistent with the facility's goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Duties include staffing, training and development, revision of nursing policies and procedures, standards of performance, and communication regarding nursing issues to medical staff, department director's and administration. Participates in departmental and team meetings to discuss patient care and develop treatment plans
| JOB RESPONSIBILITIES | ||
| Ensures compliance with all state, federal and regulatory agencies - meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance in delivery of care. | ||
| Assists in the preparation of monthly reports for quality, safety and PI. May attend monthly quality, safety and other committee meetings. | ||
| Collaborates with DON on maintaining a high level of service and quality nursing care. | ||
Collaborates with DON to ensure adequate orientation, training, supervision and evaluation processes for all staff members. | ||
| Supervises nursing supervisory team and acts as a role model for excellent customer service and holds all nursing staff to this standard. | ||
| Partners with People Services to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations when conducting investigations and disciplinary action. Conducts conflict resolution and mediation with staff in the nursing department in a professional manner. | ||
| Ensures the implementation of an ongoing system of program orientation for patients, families, students, interns, and professionals. | ||
| In conjunction with the DON, ensures adequate supervision and evaluation processes for all staff members and delegates these responsibilities as appropriate. | ||
| Partners with the DON to routinely review job assignments and utilization of staff to ensure that programs are staffed with the appropriate resources to ensure safe, high quality nursing care. | ||
| Analyzes statistical data on inpatient programs to determine and respond to trends. | ||
| Collaborates with other departments such as Intake and Clinical Services to ensure an efficient and effective flow of information regarding patient care between the departments. | ||
| Ensures high level of patient satisfaction with treatment. | ||
| Enhances hospital visibility by involvement in community regarding mental health and substance abuse community needs. | ||
| Report incidents appropriately and within the designated time frame. Demonstrates good judgment in contacting the AOC or DON. Partners with the DON and Quality & Risk to conduct investigations, event reviews, root cause analyses, and other related activities. | ||
Delivers quality nursing care to ensure goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies. | ||
| May work as a working House Supervisor or Unit Nurse as needed. | ||
| Expresses ideas effectively in individual, public, and group situations and work collaboratively to find solutions to problems. Role models competence, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality that is desired from all hospital staff. | ||
| Collaborates with DON and People Services for staff recruitment and retention. |
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing and relevant state licensure required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. CPI and CPR certifications must remain current. May be required to work flexible hours, overtime and share on-call duties.
- Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, and psychiatric patients across the lifespan preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities. Leadership experience required.
