JOB SUMMARY
Assists with the daily direction of personnel and resources within a clinical specialty or department. Provide clinical leadership necessary for
coordinating and managing resources that contribute to high quality care in a cost effective manner. To collaborate with physicians and
others to ensure optimal patient care during surgical procedures. Responsible for the Laser Safety Program in the Operating Room.
Reports to: Director - Surgical Services & Chief Nursing Officer
FLSA: Non-Exempt


JOB REQUIREMENTS
Works with CNO and Director of Surgical Services to plan and monitor staffing activities, including staff scheduling, educational/development
activities, hiring, orientation, coaching/counseling and performance evaluations.
Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of QA/QI initiatives.
Works collaboratively with CNO and Director of Surgical Services to serve as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to
patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
Monitors departmental compliance with applicable requirements, including accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission.
Ensures employee competence is accurately assessed, obtained, and documented
Assists with employee corrective counseling/behavioral accountability
Performs timekeeping for specified areas
Assists with productivity reports for specified areas

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Education:

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing - Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful
environment and take appropriate action.
Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education

Certifications: 

BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire.
Licenses:
State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure - Required
Minimum Work Experience
5 years of Surgical Services Nursing experience - Required
