How you'll contribute
A Central Sterile Technician who excels in this role:
Delivers high-quality support through specialized technical practices, contributing to safe, efficient patient care and positive clinical outcomes.
Collects, decontaminates, inspects, sterilizes, stores, and distributes reusable instruments, supplies, and patient care equipment across the hospital.
Receives and processes soiled and contaminated instruments, equipment, and surgical trays from operating rooms, nursing units, and other patient care areas, ensuring proper handling and compliance with sterilization standards.
Performs inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and equipment in accordance with established processing guidelines and regulatory standards (AAMI, AORN, TJC, OSHA).
Operates departmental equipment daily in accordance with manufacturer instructions, maintaining a strong focus on safety and proper functionality.
Processes and documents sterile supplies and equipment using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in compliance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solution testing daily, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
Provides responsive, service-oriented support to all departments, prioritizing patient needs and timely delivery of sterile supplies and equipment.
What we're looking for
Applicants should have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Additional requirements include:
1 year or more of prior work experience in Central Sterile is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
