Department/Unit Summary

The Surgery Unit at Ashley Regional embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to our patients.

How you'll contribute

You will make an impact by ensuring all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, and ready for use. Their meticulous work helps prevent infections, supports smooth surgical procedures, and keeps healthcare teams equipped with reliable, sterile tools.

  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient's needs.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.

Qualifications and requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
