Certified Medical Assistant - Swain Family Care 

Job Type: Full-Time | Days

$2500 sign on bonus, requires 2-year commitment 

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8a-5p)

We are a busy, well-established Family Practice with an expanding Provider list in need of a caring, dedicated care giver for our patients.  We treat patients ranging from birth and up, focusing on both acute and chronic medical conditions. We are looking for someone with experience in patient care and a positive attitude.  We strive for a family-like atmosphere with supportive staff and care about our employees individually while maintaining high quality professionalism and expertise.  We are looking for a team member who cares about our patients as much as we do to join us!

 

How you'll contribute

A CMA who excels in this role:

  • Duties include assisting with the direct care of patients as well as other clinic activities such as preparation and information documentation for the patient's visit including obtaining vitals, medical history and other pertinent information from the patient.  

  • Prepares exam rooms for patients.  

  • May assist with procedures as directed by the Provider.  

  • Assists with collection of lab samples.

  • We offer on-the-job training and a career assistance program to help you become a Certified Medical Assistant.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and possess a valid Certified/Registered Medical Assistant certification. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS). Certification must be completed within 30 days of hire and maintained.

  • License: CMA or RMA or CCMA via the AAMA or NHA

  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, associates preferred 

  • Work experience:  Past experience in the medical field is preferred, but working as a medical assistant in a physician's office is not required.

Swain Community Hospital is a 48-bed, fully accredited critical access hospital located in Bryson City, NC, which has been serving the residents of Swain and Graham counties since 1948. The hospital, along with an outpatient physician practice, offers primary and inpatient care, as well as emergency, laboratory, imaging, rehabilitation, urology, cardiopulmonary, geriatric outpatient, pediatric and gastroenterology services, and a pain clinic.
