Certified Medical Assistant (Clinic)
Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of the assigned clinic or physician office. This role assists providers with patient care, maintains clinical operations, and supports front office functions as needed.
Reports To: Director of Physician Services
Education & Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent - Required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent - Required
- Certification: CCMA, CMA, or RMA - Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Must obtain within 60 days of hire
Required Skills
- Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Professional communication skills with patients and team members
Essential Functions
- Assists physician or nurse with patient assessments and treatments
- Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection
- Monitors patient conditions and communicates changes appropriately
- Documents patient care accurately and timely
- Maintains exam rooms, equipment, and medical supplies
- Orders, stocks, cleans, and troubleshoots equipment as needed
- Performs administrative and clerical duties including scheduling, filing, reception, data entry, and patient registration
