Here, you're more than an employee - you're a vital member of a team committed to making communities healthier every day. As a Surgical Tech, you'll partner closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to deliver safe, compassionate care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

How you'll contribute
You'll play a key role in creating a safe, efficient, and positive surgical experience for every patient. Each day, you will:

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments, equipment, sterile solutions, and supplies before procedures.
  • Help prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and ensuring the surgical site is properly prepped.
  • Maintain a sterile field at all times and uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique to prevent infection.
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs, passing instruments and supplies efficiently and safely throughout the procedure.
  • Assist with tasks such as holding retractors, cutting sutures, handling specimens, and applying dressings as directed.
  • Participate in pre‑ and post‑procedure counts, room turnover, cleaning, and restocking to keep cases running smoothly.
  • Support our culture of safety, quality, and teamwork while providing age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up the operating room and organize the sterile table with instruments, equipment, linens, and solutions prior to surgery.
  • Check, adjust, and operate equipment such as sterilizers, lights, suction, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic devices.
  • Maintain necessary supplies of fluids (e.g., saline, blood products, glucose solutions) for use during procedures.
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including skin prep at the incision site, positioning on the table, and applying sterile drapes.
  • Perform surgical scrub, don sterile attire, and work within the sterile field to handle instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Anticipate surgeon and team needs, passing instruments and providing sterile items in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Prepare, care for, and properly label and handle specimens for laboratory analysis, assist with retraction, cut sutures, and apply dressings as directed.
  • Clean, restock, and prepare the operating room for subsequent cases, helping to ensure a safe and ready environment.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission standards and hospital policies and participate in required in‑service and ongoing education.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and support a respectful, inclusive environment for patients, families, and coworkers.

  • Income-protection programs, including life, accident, and critical illness coverage, employer-paid short- and long-term disability, and identity theft protection.

  • Employee Assistance Program resources for mental, physical, and financial wellness.
  • Professional development, education, and growth opportunities within Havasu Regional Medical Center and the broader Lifepoint Health network.
