Certified Surgical Technologist - Pulaski
Position Summary
The Certified Surgical Technologist supports the safe, efficient, and effective performance of surgical procedures by assisting the surgical team before, during, and after operations. This role helps ensure patient safety and quality outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The Certified Surgical Technologist reports to the Director of Surgery/Operating Room.
Essential Functions
- Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures
- Safely handle instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and transport as needed
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the surgical team
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and document as required

Work Environment and Exposure
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood, bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

Ability to meet the physical demands of a surgical environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures

Effective communication and teamwork skills
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Graduate of a surgical technology program preferred
Experience
Minimum of six (6) months prior experience in a surgical setting preferred
Licensure and Certifications
National CST Certification from (NBSTSA)
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
