How you'll contribute
The Charge Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all billing charges are captured in an appropriate manner. They are accountable for the accurate and timely charge capture and data input of patient encounters in the billing system and the resolution of assigned edits.
Qualifications and requirements
Minimum Education
Completion of Medical Coding and Billing program or related training required
Associate degree in related field preferred
Minimum Work Experience
2-3 years of medical billing and coding experience required
Experience working with electronic medical records systems required
Required Skills
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
Competent in using medical record systems, EPIC a benefit
Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and CMS requirements and standards
Essential functions:
- Identifies, analyzes and reconciles billing errors or omissions in queue.
- Prepares and posts charges to appropriate accounts, including inputting patient registrations and clearing registrations and charge entry edit lists.
- Prepares and scans batches for data entry.
- Performs detailed data collection for tracking and monitoring on charge entry related items.
- Resolves specific front end edits, and batch maintenance issues.
- Collaborates with department manager(s), director(s) and leadership to continually improve and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the overall charging process, including monitoring department queues.
- Responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of entering all patients' encounter related charges.
