Position Summary:
The Physician Services Clerk provides high-quality customer service to patients and performs functions delegated and assigned by the Office Manager. This role supports front office operations, ensures efficient patient flow, and maintains accurate patient and financial records.
Reports to: Office Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred, including knowledge of computers, medical coding, and medical terminology.

Essential Functions
- Performs front office activities in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner
- Provides excellent customer service to patients and their families
- Notifies the Office Manager of customer complaints in a timely manner
- Collects and updates patient demographic information in the practice management system
- Communicates delays and offers alternatives to patients when wait times are extended
- Manages incoming calls, documents messages, and ensures effective telephone communication
- Coordinates EMR and medical record activities
- Collects and posts payments while ensuring proper handling and security of funds
- Schedules patient appointments and coordinates scheduling activities to ensure efficient workflow
- Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains prior authorizations as required
- Reviews patient accounts to explain balances and collect payments
- Conducts appointment reminder and confirmation calls
- Completes required training and in-service education
- Participates in initiatives to improve patient satisfaction
- Assists with referrals to other members of the healthcare team as needed
