Position Summary
A Clinical Coordinator assists with the daily coordination of personnel and resources within the scope of assignment. Acts as a liaison between nursing departments and ancillary departments to promote continuity of care, optimal patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates staff scheduling, education/development activities, and performance evaluations
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Identifies and resolves issues impacting clinical service delivery
- Maintains communication between nursing units and registration to ensure efficient patient throughput
- Provides direct patient care as needed
- Assists physicians with procedures
- Inserts PICC lines and accesses central lines (Hickman, port-a-cath) as ordered
- Responds to in-hospital emergencies to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes
- Rounds on post-surgical and procedural patients
- Provides real-time ("just in time") staff education
- Administers moderate sedation in accordance with policy and procedure
- Reports incidents or unusual events to leadership
- Promotes and adheres to facility behavioral and clinical standards
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Licensure
- BSN preferred
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Preferred
