How you'll contribute
A cook who excels in this role:
- Prepares and serves meals in accordance with dietary standards and scheduled times, ensuring food quality, cleanliness, and adherence to infection control policies.
- Collaborates with the dietary team to meet patient nutrition needs and maintain a clean kitchen environment.
- Prepares meals to meet designated mealtimes and test foods to ensure proper seasoning and quality.
- Collaborates with the Registered Dietitian regarding modified diets when necessary.
- Supervises Nutritional Services staff in the preparation and handling of food items.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and organized kitchen in compliance with infection control policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What we're looking for
Education:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous food service or customer service experience preferred; cooking experience strongly preferred. Healthcare food service experience is a plus.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining food safety standards.
- Requires strong time management and teamwork skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Schedule: PRN (as needed)
This position does not have a set weekly schedule. You'll be called in to work when extra help is needed--such as covering for someone, handling busy periods, or filling gaps in the schedule. Hours can vary from week to week, and there's no guaranteed hours.
