Position Summary: Staff participates in provision of quality of prepared food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu.  Assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation and cleaning procedures are followed.  Staff cleans work area, serving area, and dining area.  

Qualifications 

Education: High school diploma, GED or combination of education and relevant work experience preferred. 

Experience Previous experience in food service, hospital experience preferred.   

License: Valid driver’s license preferred. 

Additional RequirementsMay be required to work flexible hours and overtime.  Food Safety/Sanitation certification preferred.

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to patient/customers regarding problematic issues in in a non-defensive manner.

  • Adheres to attendance requirements. Utilizes correct procedure for taking time off.   

  • Attends departmental and staff meetings as required. 

  • Is accountable and shows pride in work; strives to do more than the minimum required.  Shows initiative and completes work in a timely and accurate manner.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Collaborates with the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietician for menus and patient specific needs. 

Keeps and rotates food/consumables stored per health department and hospital guidelines.   Keeps rotation (FIFO) standards, no expired food products on premise.  Properly dates and labels all food. 

Maintains accurate HACCP programs, checks food temperatures from delivery through consumption. 

Practices sanitation and food safety guidelines for appropriate food handling procedures, including use of service utensils and gloves.  Ensures all dishes and food preparation utensils are cleaned in accordance to safety and sanitation guidelines.
