Position Summary
The Referral Coordinator facilitates the patient referral process and obtains appropriate pre-certifications as requested by provider(s). This role ensures timely coordination of patient care services and acts as a liaison between patients, providers, and external healthcare resources.
- Reports to: Office Manager
- FLSA Status: Non-exempt
- Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM | No weekends
Essential Functions
- Processes all insurance referrals and/or pre-certifications
- Facilitates patient appointments with specialists, imaging, rehabilitation services, physical therapy, and other recommended services
- Serves as a referral resource for patients, clinical staff, and front office personnel
- Handles information requests, including reviewing records, answering inquiries, and responding to incoming requests
- Performs administrative and clerical duties including filing, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration
- Greets visitors and communicates effectively with patients and providers
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation within systems
- Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent - required
- Minimum of 2 years of medical office experience - required
- Experience with medical referrals - preferred
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - required
- Knowledge of insurance processes, referrals, and pre-certifications
- Proficiency in administrative functions including scheduling, registration, and data entry
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information
