Job Description
Responsible for oversight of court related procedures for patients requiring involuntary treatment of mental health issues and substance abuse. Individual is responsible for appearing at probable cause hearings to provide clinical information on behalf of the hospital. Responsible for fostering a relationship between the court system, county, physicians, and hospital. Individual is responsible for ensuring that all court documentation is accurate and meets all court provided deadlines.
Qualifications
Education: Master's degree from an accredited school of social work or counseling preferred, not required.
Experience: Previous experience in inpatient healthcare required. A knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles required.
Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment. May be required to work flexible hours.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for following all procedures for court commitments in a timely manner
Responsible for attending treatment team rounds
Responsible for attending probable cause hearings
Responsible for communicating and providing all pertinent information to the court appointed attorneys
Works closely with the county attorney's office to ensure submission of complete and accurate legal documentation
Communicates effectively with hospital departments, supervisor and physicians
Communicates effectively with Corporate legal advisor on legal procedures
Fosters a positive relationship with outside parties, to include the county and local court system
Responsible for chart updates pertaining to court documentation and court proceedings.
Required to attend hospital meetings as determined by supervisor
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to sit and stand (one-third of the shift) and walk (two-thirds of the shift).
2. Ability to reach above, or below waist height, kneel, bend, stoop, turn, and twist (occasionally to frequently).
3. Ability to see well enough to read charts, treatment plans, and typewritten materials.
4. Ability to hear well enough to detect noise on the unit and have the ability to discern odors.
5. Ability to frequently push/pull wheeled carts from 100 to 200 pounds.
6. Ability to frequently lift and carry.
7. Ability to manipulate small and large tools (electric thermometer, telephone, wheelchair, blood pressure cuffs, paper punch, staplers, copy machine, etc.)
8. Ability to work at a rapid pace and perform a variety of repetitive duties.
