How you'll contribute
A Director of Case Management who excels in this role:
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including care coordination, utilization review, discharge planning, and patient care delivery to achieve performance and quality objectives.
- Plans, monitors, and manages staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and ongoing staff development.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets to ensure operations remain within allocated funding; coordinates and oversees internal and external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Integrates evidence-based practices into departmental operations and case management protocols.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including CMS guidelines and HIPAA standards.
- Oversees sensitive and confidential information in alignment with organizational policies and business office standards.
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and length of stay management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; applicable experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Current RN license required (North Carolina or compact state preferred).
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership experience in case management, utilization review, or care coordination within an acute care setting.
- Ability to manage complex departmental operations and lead interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of CMS regulations, discharge planning processes, and payer requirements.
- Business mathematical skills with the ability to compute rates, ratios, and performance metrics.
- Moderate computer proficiency including EMR systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve complex and sensitive situations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs as required.
- Repetitive motion required for computer use; must possess required vision abilities.
- Works in a hospital and office environment with potential exposure to healthcare-related hazards.
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%).
