Job Summary
- Emergency Services Technician performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area.
- Employee is also required to perform telemetry monitoring.
Required Skills
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
How you'll contribute:
- Greets patients and visitors.
- Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
- Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.
- Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
- Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
- Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
- Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
- Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
- Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
What we're looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program preferred.
- License: Certified Nursing Aide license is preferred.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire.
- Minimum One (1) year of experience preferred.
