How you'll contribute

A successful Emergency Services Technician:

  • Works closely with all emergency services staff

  • Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and visitors

  • Is responsible for the proper collection of most specimens used in laboratory analysis within the scope of their knowledge and experience (Phlebotomy, POC testing)

  • Performs point of care testing, and follows appropriate quality control procedures

  • Assists with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as appropriate, including the transporting of patients throughout the facility

  • Practices universal precautions

  • Has the ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful emergency situations

  • Continually strives to identify areas of cost containment by monitoring supplies and equipment

  • Obtains vital signs and accurately documents in patient's electronic medical record

  • Performs/follows the DEM EKG process

  • Assists with the nursing process, i.e. vitals, dressings, splints, under the direction of the nurse or DEM provider

  • Assesses, evaluates, and relays to appropriate team members, necessary and pertinent information concerning patient care

  • Maintains cleanliness of environment, i.e.: patient care areas, work areas, and staff lounge

  • Assures patient care areas are restocked with adequate supplies and linen

  • Is responsible for documenting patient valuables on appropriate forms

  • Assumes assigned role internal/external disaster plans

  • Completes annual required education/competencies

  • Maintains CPR certification

  • Attends 1:1 education within 12 months of hire

What we're looking for

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • CPR required

  • Completion of an EMT/nurse aide/patient care technician training or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy preferred
  • Emergency care experience preferred
