POSITION SUMMARY:
Emergency Services Technician performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area. Employee is also required to perform telemetry monitoring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Greets patients and visitors.
- Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
- Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse.
- Asks for clarification when necessary.
- Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
- Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
- Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
- Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
- Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
- Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
- Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
- Other tasks that may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Current CNA certificate, or current Iowa EMT certification, or current National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
Experience: CNA or ER Tech experience required
Certifications: Current BLS certification or must obtain within 1 month of hire. Emergency Med Tech EMT, Certified Nursing Assistant, Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certificates preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.
