Position Summary:
The Histologist performs a variety of routine laboratory duties in the preparation and processing of histopathological specimens to assist in diagnosis and treatment of disease. This position includes staining and processing of cytology specimens, record keeping including slides, blocks, and reports.

Essential Functions:

  • Able to perform/knowledge of all items in the Histology Competency Assessment Booklet and takes initiative to complete competencies
  • Meets turn around time standards
  • Maintains orderly filing system for block and slides
  • Block and slide prep completed accurately
  • Correct entry of information into Windowpath computer system
  • Maintenace performed adequately on equipment

Qualifications:
Education: Completion of a Histology Tech program & completion of training/internship

License: CLA or equivalent training in histology

Experience: Proficient and knowledge of histology equipment and computer systesm
