Department/Unit Summary

Busy clinic setting, which serves Family practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Residency clinic and a walk-in clinic. This position is a float position; therefore, the applicant will be expected to work in different areas throughout the clinic dependent on staffing needs.

Qualifications and requirements

Applicants should have a current state LPN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school.

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
  • Required Essential Functions Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
  • May administer medication.
  • Documents patient care given. Assists RN with development of plan of care.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
  • Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
  • Non-Essential Functions Attends clinic meetings.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
  • Completes safety instructional programs. Assists other team members when time permits.

Additional requirements include:

  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within 30 days after hire date
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
