    Position Summary: 

The Monitor Technician, under the supervision of an RN, will perform telemetry monitoring. Additional requirements include:

  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.

  • Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.

  • Identifies and corrects for artifacts.

  • Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in the patient's physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the nursing staff.

  • Tests equipment for proper working order. 

  • Reports equipment problems to the supervisor.

 

       Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

     

    Required Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Certifications/Licenses: Handle with Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire/transfer.

  • Coursework in Medical Terminology and Telemetry preferred.

     

    Minimum Work Experience: 

  • Previous secretarial experience, preferably in a medical setting.
