 Under the supervision of an RN, performs telemetry monitoring. Reports to: Director of Critical Care Unit/Stepdown FLSA: 

Non-exempt Education: High school diploma or equivalent 

Required License: N/A Certifications: Handle with Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire/transfer 

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 

Essential Functions: Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors. Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor. 

Non-Essential Functions: Review and comply with LifePoint Code of Conduct and all relevant Company and Division policies and procedures.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, focused, and dependable Monitor Technician to join our Telemetry Monitoring team. Under the supervision of an RN, this position is responsible for continual cardiac/telemetry monitoring, promptly identifying and reporting changes, and supporting safe patient care on our critical care and stepdown units. This is an excellent role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, has strong situational awareness, and wants to play a critical behind-the-scenes role in patient safety.

 

What You'll Do

  • Perform continuous surveillance of multiple telemetry monitors.

  • Identify significant arrhythmias or signs of patient distress and immediately notify nursing staff.

  • Recognize and correct telemetry artifacts.

  • Report abnormal telemetry findings and changes in patient condition.

  • Test equipment and report any malfunctions.

  • Support the unit by maintaining accuracy, awareness, and timely communication.

 

Skills & Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications:

  • Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire/transfer.
