The IT department at Haywood Regional Medical Center provides critical support to physician practices across the Western Carolina Physician Network, ensuring seamless operation of clinical and administrative systems. The team manages software and hardware troubleshooting, EMR upgrades, workflow optimization, and coordinates technology needs for new practice setups and relocations. Their work is essential to maintaining efficient, secure, and responsive healthcare delivery.
How you'll contribute
A Network Administrator who excels in this role:
- Safeguard electronic patient health information by developing and enforcing security practices that prevent unauthorized access
- Establish and maintain security standards to ensure HIPAA compliance and protect data confidentiality, integrity, and availability
- Lead and support HIPAA compliance efforts, including participation in committees, risk and gap analyses, and ongoing program oversight
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, compliance, legal, and clinical teams to ensure adherence to privacy and security regulations
- Monitor network security, system performance, backups, and user access controls to protect critical systems and ensure data integrity
- Manage user access and identity controls, ensuring appropriate, role-based access to systems and patient information
- Develop, implement, and test security policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity and uninterrupted access to critical data
- Audit, monitor, and respond to security incidents and access activity, including reporting on compliance status and driving continuous improvement
- Support healthcare data interoperability, regulatory reporting (e.g., SQL/Crystal Reports), and secure patient data exchange in alignment with evolving healthcare standards

What we're looking for
- Associate's degree in a related computer field required; Bachelor's in Information Systems or Computer Science preferred
- Experience in information security within complex environments, preferably in healthcare
- Strong network security experience, including user access setup and management
- Familiarity with healthcare systems, preferably McKesson Paragon Hospital Information System
- Experience with Microsoft SQL, Crystal Reports, and auditing/reporting tools
- Knowledge of patient privacy, confidentiality regulations, and health information management practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
