Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.

Job Summary
Provides high quality pre-hospital advanced life support as a paramedic representing Conemaugh Health System while assisting EMS providers in the field via ground-based response. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the treatment outcome of patients of all ages including the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations as defined by the paramedic scope of practice through Department of Health Guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation.
- Practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by PA Department of Health, Bureau of EMS.
- Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing continuing education and clinical experiences.
- Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies to assure readiness and immediate response to assist providers by ground.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, physicians and the public.
o Participates in patient and referring institution follow up.
o Participates in planned outreach, marketing and education activities.
o Maintains awareness of current issues related to pre-hospital care.
- Assume responsibility and accountability in communications with transfer center and receiving physicians through the transfer center line.
- Maintains and completes all required licensure, certifications, continuing education, state and departmental requirements.
- Serves as role model, educator, and clinical resource
o Participates in orientation of new employees and students as assigned.
o Acts as a liaison and communicates hospital and program mission, values and goals.
o Maintains the values as associated with the Ideal Patient Experience and Commitments to Excellence.

Job Qualifications
Education
Required: High school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a paramedic course with certificate
Preferred:
Experience
Required: Current active field experience of at least two years as an ALS Provider with active medical command status.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Required: Current Pennsylvania Paramedic certification with active EMSVO endorsement
Current Pennsylvania driver's license with excellent driving record and no restrictions
ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS/ITLS (or equivalent)
NIMS certification (100, 200, 700, 800),
Preferred: Neonatal resuscitation certification, PEPP, National Registry

Highly skilled field practitioner for all age groups - neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric
