How you'll contribute
A Patient Access Representative who excels in this role:
Performs patient admissions and insurance verification duties under the direction of the Director of Patient Registration.
Obtains and verifies patient demographic and insurance information, including interviewing patients or their representatives as needed.
Prepares and processes admitting documentation while remaining current on insurance updates and regulatory requirements.
Provides supervision and support to admissions associates as needed.
Ensures all required demographic, billing, and clinical information is accurately obtained and entered into the registration system in a timely manner, assigning a medical record number when appropriate.
Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or family members and ensures all required signatures for treatment are obtained.
Meets with patients or their caregivers before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation, explain processes, and address questions or concerns.
Communicates with admitting physicians' offices, nursing unit staff, and other appropriate personnel to exchange admission information and coordinate patient placement.
Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification or authorization as required; collects applicable payments such as co-pays and deductibles or refers patients to financial counselors for follow-up.
Reviews patient visit history to ensure compliance with third-party payer requirements and completes appropriate documentation as needed.
Collects co-pays and other required payments from patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
What we're looking for
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of the required education. Additional requirements include:
Billing or collections experience preferred; computer proficiency required.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and calculators.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Hourly range: $26 - $30 per hour
