What we're looking for

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to support the admissions process and ensure a smooth experience for patients, families, and referral partners. This role works under the direction of the Director of Business Development and the Admissions Coordinator and is responsible for coordinating patient admissions, verifying insurance benefits, and maintaining accurate admission documentation.  The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and comfortable communicating with patients, families, insurance providers, and healthcare teams.

 

How You'll Contribute 

 

  • Process referrals and coordinate patient admissions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collect and record all necessary patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and coverage details.
  • Obtain pre-certification for inpatient rehabilitation stays when required.
  • Pre-admit patients into the appropriate EMR and billing systems.
  • Coordinate communication between admissions, clinical liaisons, case management, and other hospital departments.
  • Notify appropriate staff of anticipated patient admissions and arrival times.
  • Prepare and complete admission paperwork and obtain required patient signatures.
  • Maintain accurate patient files and referral tracking documentation.
  • Provide patients and families with information regarding insurance benefits and direct billing questions to the appropriate department.
  • Maintain accurate referral, admission, discharge, and census records.
  • Compile and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly admissions and referral statistics.
  • Assist with referral tracking and communication with referral sources, physicians, and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the facility.

 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient admissions, healthcare registration, or medical insurance verification preferred.
  • Experience with patient intake or hospital admissions processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements.
  • Experience with EMR or hospital information systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team environment.
  • Knowledge of hospital systems and medical-surgical environments preferred.
