Position Summary

The pharmacist is responsible for preparing and dispensing medications, overseeing pharmacy technicians and ensuring the accuracy and safety of all drug therapy provided to patients. This position supports the healthcare team by offering pharmacological expertise and contributing to positive patient outcomes.

Schedule: Days, Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm and every 3rd weekend

Essential Functions

  • Review and interpret physician medication orders for accuracy, dosage and patient safety
  • Prepare and dispensed prescribed medications according to professional standards and regulatory guidelines
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy support staff in day-to-day functions
  • Monitor patient responses to medications and identify potential adverse reactions
  • Provide drug information to physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers
  • Maintain accurate records of all controlled substances and monitor compliance
  • Ensure that medication storage and dispensing complies with infection control, safety and regulatory standards
  • Participate in clinical rounds, case discussions, etc as required
  • Perform quality assurance checks and participate in departmental audits
  • Precept college of pharmacy students

Qualifications

  • Holds an active Texas pharmacist license (TX) - active and unrestricted
  • Possesses at least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience (preferred)
  • Omnicell and Meditech experience (preferred)
  • Degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy
