Physical Therapy Aide

The Physical Therapy Aide in an outpatient orthopedic setting is a pre-licensure or newly graduated clinician participating in a structured mentorship and training program. This role focuses on developing advanced skills in orthopedic evaluation, manual therapy, movement analysis, and evidence-based treatment under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, in accordance with Virginia regulations.

The aide will progressively build independence while delivering high-quality care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions, post-operative needs, and functional limitations.

How you'll contribute 

Physical Therapy Aide who excels in this role will:

- Assist with and progressively perform orthopedic evaluations under direct supervision

- Deliver individualized treatment plans for conditions including:

- Post-operative rehabilitation (e.g., joint replacements, ACL repairs)

- Sports injuries

- Spine conditions (neck and low back pain)

- General orthopedic dysfunction

- Perform and learn hands-on techniques such as:

Manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic exercise progression

- Analyze movement patterns, posture, and biomechanics

- Educate patients on injury prevention, recovery timelines, and home exercise programs

What we're looking for 

Applicants should be Graduate of an accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program (or final-term student).  Additional requirements include:
 

- Eligible for Virginia licensure (or actively pursuing)

- Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain)

- Strong interest in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation

- Excellent communication and patient engagement skills

- Clinical rotations in outpatient orthopedics, preferred

- Exposure to manual therapy techniques, preferred

- Interest in sports rehab, return-to-play, or performance training, preferred

- Familiarity with EMR systems, preferred
